The house belonged to the German family of Traiber, whose ancestors had been given titles of nobility for their military services. In the second half of the 19th century, a strong linguistic assimilation of the German speaking bourgeoisie could be observed in the whole of the country; this is also reflected on this building, since the family put their Hungarian name on the attic façade in 1870: Vasváry. The front is ornamented with a relief of pyrogranite, which was produced in the local pottery Zsolnay, thus forms a link to the Traiber-Vasváry family’s profession: they were iron and steel traders.
